Default Tail Light Corrosion - Anyone else experienced this?

Hello,

I have a 99 A6, and I recently noticed both my tail lights appear to have a pattern of corrosion (see photos). I hadn't noticed this until recently, when I parked the vehicle outside all evening. It is usually garaged.

Can someone shed some light on this? Am I alone? It might be time for the 2001+ tail light upgrade

Thx!

Get some plastic polish product and see it fix it.

Default The car has 5 FORWARD gears and one reverse. Not the other way around!

I have no idea why that would be happening. It looks like the road rash we get on the front of the cars.

Default Perhaps it is Ca deposits from water flowing rearward out of trunk border when driving....

... and then drying on the taillights. Should come off with the right chemicals. Don't use anything not designed for cars and plastics (e.g., avoid acetone). Don't use abrasive either or you will scratch the plastic.
