Default These 16's fit my S6? Please help with spec & info . . .

Newbie Alert: My picture poster shows a 16" wheel, currently wrapped with 215/55/16 tires. Please look at it. What is this wheel? Is it 16" by 7" or 7.5"? Offset specs?
Threshold question: will this factory 16" wheel clear the factory brake package on my '02 S6 for use as winter set up?
How about spacers and bolt pattern issues: I don't really understand how spacers affect anything other than the degree of wheel protrusion out from the side of the car. How do spacers thus permit more clearance from brake set up when brake issue seem to be about circumferance? Is offset and "ET" a separate issue from the above? Finally, my S6 has the wide fenders and these wheels will no doubt sit too far within the well and look silly without some adjustment, perhaps by use of spacers, right? Which size spacers.
These are from an A6, I believe, but forgot what I once knew about them for the moment. . . overcome by possibility and confusion, I guess.
THANKS.

Default You need 17" or higher

The 16" will not fit your S6.
Check out the link, it will explain better that I can (offset.)
The spacer may help you clear b/c the spoke on your wheel curves into the caliper, so not only do you need to clear the "top" of the caipler, but also the "side".

Thanks for the link, more work avoidance reading.

What limits the application for the S6? Gary at Tire Rack once told me he could sell me AT ITalia rims in 16 that fit the S6 . . .
Are you referring to brake clearance?

Default Funny, I have always been told that 17" is the min. at TireRack.

I would trust what TireRack says, they have always done right by me. But why would they not list it on the application guide and tell me that 17" was the min? I wonder if Gary was talking about the older generation S6?
It is my understanding that you will not clear the brakes if you go lower in dia., it would be worth another phone call to check.

2000 2.7t used a 16" wheel. Isn't that the same caliper as the S6?

You're right...2.7T, 4.2, S4, S6 all used HP2 front brakes.

Default If same caliper and 2.7 had 16", then so can S6, right?

How to be sure? Can I get certain measurements? What are sizes of this HP2 and the wheels in question? Anyone know? Even the name of the wheel would help me get specs from Audi or the dealer.
Thanks

Default Unsure - anyone have this wheel on their car?

Yes, Gary, it's an Audi factory wheel, but I don't know which. I was trying to determine its dimensions for purposes of finding if it will fit the S6 to save on getting that AT wheel. With either 16, it seems like I would need spacers to push the thinner 7.5" (or if the Audi is 7") out to fill the wide fender wells.
Anyone know this wheel? Must have it some car owned here.
