Thinking of buying an A6... any pitfalls?
Planning to sell my 93 740i and get a 1998+ A6. Any favorite years? What should I look for? I'm aware that some years have failing dash pixels.

Leaking valve cover gaskets, leaking chain tensioner gaskets, split CV boots, expensive camshift belt RandR ($1200), electrical problems (AC "solar separation relay, transmission "wire came loose to TCM cost $700 to troubleshoot), other than that its been a good car (1998 A6 quattro)

Pitfalls? becoming addicted to your car and this forum are the main ones
I bought a 99 Avant a year ago. Now have 65K miles and no problems so far. Love my car. Get a warranty for some peace of mind.

make sure you get a 2000+ A6
I had a 2000 A6 sedan, had it for 4 years, drove
118k miles, no problems.
The only pitfalls you have is the costs mods and an adiction to this forum
