tie rod replacement a success !
Well, I am glad I did it. Things worked out well and over all it was not really a difficult job. All bolts were not as difficult as some warned, but the side bolt was coroded pretty bad and had to use an air hammer to get it out. I ended up buying the heavy duty ends from ECS tuning

I followed the tech tips section on the A4. It was very good except for
talking about removing the side bolt. My guess is that he did not have a problem removing it. It took my 2 hours just to figure out how to get that bolt out (it was rusted in). The other side took only 30 minutes since I knew what I was doing!
the parts were $100 which included the hardware kit. The dealer quoted me $400
