tire/wheel size for lowered suspension?
I recently ordered 17x8" wheels from the tirerack. The tech suggested mounting 245/45 tires to the wheels. This seemed a bit wide to me, but I deffered to his judgement. (Most people here seem to mount 225 or 235)
However, I recently decided to get KW coilovers for my car (2000 2.7T) and I was wondering if the 245s will cause rubbing with the lowered suspension? (I plan to lower the car about 1 or 1.5 inches)
Luckily the wheels/tires are backordered, so I have time to change my order if need to. I'm sort of in the dark about tire sizes and the impact of lowering on clearance, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have 245/45/-ZR17's
About two months ago I purchased 17X8.5 SSR competition wheels and had them fitted with 245's. There are no problems at all with rubbing. Obviously there are two differences between your situation and mine though. One is that your wheels are 17X8 and mine are 17X8.5 but more importantly is that you are lowering your car 1.5". That could certainly make a differance. All I can say is that if you tell this to the tirerack rep and he still says to go for 245's given your wish of lowering the car, then I'd do it. They're pretty good there and I think they'd throw a red flag if they thought it to be a problem. Regardless of the possible rubbing, the 245's are not too wide for the 2.7T. They look great!
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: tire/wheel size for lowered suspension?
I've go the PSk and am running 245/45/17 on ATP S5's - it's close but no rubbing. you should be ok with the KW setup - my father has it on his 4.2 and it didn't change anything other then significantly improving handling and look.
Good luck
