Trunk does not lock
Hello Four Ring Enthusiasts,
I found a couple of threads covering this topic, did not find any confirmed resolutions.
I purchased my 04 A6 2.7t S-Line in December. When I picked it up from the dealer, I noticed the trunk latch (on the trunk lid) was loose. I put it on the mental list to address when time allowed. A month goes by and before I unlock the car to let me son put his lacrosse gear in the trunk, he opens the trunk.
Perplexed and shocked, I unlock, relock and sure as feces, I can open the trunk with the car in it's locked & alarmed state. The next day, I tear apart the trunk, find that the nuts securing the latch are loose. I resecure the nuts, button everything up and test the conditions again. It works as it is supposed to.
It becomes part of my periodic neurotic process of locking the car, then checking the trunk. And by the stench of Zeus' beard, the damn trunk opens. Nuts are tight. Now what?
