Turn Signal Relay?

Turn Signal Relay?
Turn signals stopped working on 2001 A6, some of the posts say it is the hazard switch, but local auto parts guy said this car has a regular turn signal relay. Does anyone know which is true? I havnt been able to find a diagram of what the different relays are under the dash.

I have a 2000 2.7t
had the signals stop working. Here is how i trouble shot and fixed the problem
1. check fuse - it was ok
2. Searched audiworld forum - everyone said buy relay
3. saw that I could order part online but went to stealership to buy hazard relay to see if that was the problem. With the plan being that if it corrected the issue I could then retrun the part to the stealership and order it cheaper online.
4. No joy - new hazard flasher relay didn't fix the prob - returned it to steelership.
5. back to boards - some had replaced the signal staulk entirely....kept reading.... then I found a posting that indicated that the problem was because the wiring harness inside the steering colummn had come loose because someone had recently adjusted the steering wheel.
6. So back to the car with my tools....Easy to disassemble plastic trim from around the steering colummn, and sure enough - loose wiring harness was the issue. used some duct tape and reinstalled trim around the column...
cost - my time and a piece of tape - how is that for cheap.
