Thanks for all the GREAT advice everyone gave me on checking out the used A6! Yesterday I took the 1998 A6 to a European car mechanic referred by a friend. He said it was in good shape, but some strange wear patters made him worry about how the previous owner drove the car. I went back to the dealership, and after thinking about the warrantee on the A6 (2 years of Audi assured left) verses a new one, I bit the bullet and decided to go with a 2001 A4.

Today at 10:30 I pick up my first Audi, a 2001 A4 1.8TQA Melange with Ecru interior, Bose, Premium, Cold, and Xenons. I can't wait to start driving it!

Thanks again for all the great information many of you on this board gave me, it really helped for me to make an informed decision.

This car is the most fun I have ever had outside of bed. I can't believe I have missed this for the last 12 years of my driving life! I have two hours till dark, just enough time to read the manual then off to try out the Xenons! Thanks again for all your advice and I'll stop in and see you A6 guys often.
