Update on my front end troubles-->
dealer diagnosed that the upper links on both sides were shot. Rubber had deteriorated on the outer links on the passenger side, giving me much noise and vibration.
The fix was $2200 worth of suspension work. The warranty company paid for the replacement of the parts that were worn ($1124) and I paid for tax, the alignment and a full suspension kit. (this kit includes 4 upper links (2 on each side), 2 lower control arms, and 2 outer tie rod ends. The new parts are supposedely redisgned to be more durable) Once installed, the car steers as good as new. Steering is nice and tight, with no "fluttering" of the wheels that I began to get while cornering hard and hitting small surface imperfections. So basically I'm paying $960 for a new front end.
