VAG throttle hesitation spreads to VW Touareg
Quite a thread developing over on Vortex/Touareg as new T-reg owners are discovering the same Tip-Throttle hesitation that is the curse of Audi. I guess its appearance in major new VAG model doesn't bode well for a fix. Its not a big deal for me, but the posts show it must be much more severe in some cars.

Touareg does the Hesitation

After thinking about this problem for awhile...
I was wondering how many people left foot brake their cars. If so, the drive by wire will cut out the throttle just as is described by most of the complaints about this problem. I doubt that many do, but, thought I'd ask.
Throttle by wire is very frustrating for Autoxing, because you cannot left foot brake.
BTW, my 2.7t and TDI Jetta (both manuals), cutout if you touch the brake (for more then a second) with your foot on the gas.

I would say this is common to all VW/Audi cars. I about got killed......
when trying to turn in face of oncoming traffic in an A4 1.8T loaner car (new), and it hesitated for at least 2 secs. What was an easy turn ended up with a lot of drama. BUT, that's not near as bad as my A6 2.7 quitting dead in traffic. My new car has instant response, thankfully, even though it is thought to be fugly, by some.

There is a TSB on the Bently for this, but when I click it, it can't find it
It's named:
01-01-02 Customer States, 'Vehicle Hesitates' or 'Will Not Move After Stopping' or 'Lacks Power on Take Off'
Model: All with Electronic Power Control and Automatic Transmission
Date: Oct. 29, 2001
Too bad I can't see what it says....

It's the software . . .
Like everyone else, I've nearly gotten clobbered because of this off/on throttle hesitation in my '01 2.7T Tip. My wife had it on her '01 1.8T A4 also, hated it, and had an updated software patch downloaded that FIXED it! Said to my service manager, "ME TOO!" He said, "So sorry, it's part of the ESP." Hmmm??? My wife's A4 doesn't HAVE ESP.
Do the European A6's have the same problem? Any Euro-AudiWorlders, let us know. I have a strong suspicion this might be AoA's brilliant way of dealing with another case of "Unintended Acceleration." "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the plaintiff got creamed by a semi because we were protecting him from Unintended Acceleration!."
It's not turbo lag, because it's absent from a standing start.

It says: "Tell the customer to keep his left foot off the brake" - honestly!
Or words to that effect. I called customer support on the Bently for it and that is what they sent me!
