New CEO, " I'd like to buy a round of 8s for every model in the house!"

Default Yeah, the 2.7T engine is gonna disappear within a couple years...

I suspect the 2.7T will have an '03 model, perhaps an '04 either to be phased out a year early or a short '04 year...essentially to not exist when the '05 new A6 arrives.
I don't really have any idea what Audi plans to do to fill the void that the 2.7T engine departure will create...but clearly all "signs" from the press, etc point to the ultimate end to the 2.7T (S4, allroad, etc).
I wouldn't be surprised to see the V8 allroad either in very decontented format to keep the price down or even in 3.0 format, which is adequate for what most people want to do with the allroad anyway...or both?

Default Finman, can I have some warning as to when my engine will disappear? Will I get a replacement, or...

... will I just be stuck. This will surely make resale value even worse, if that's possible.

Default I think yours is gonna disappear in May 2003...

You should definitely sell before then...it'll be tough to sell without an engine...

As for the rest of 'em...I'm just guessing...this month's MT or R&T (can't remember which) is the first mag I've seen that supports my contention that the next A6 will be in 2005 (model year), one year after the launch of the new A8.

Default I am not so sure about that.

First of All, Love your silver 4.2. but I have to disagree about the Turbo Motor. From what I have read the 2.7 was a great seller for Audi. I love my silver 2.7 more everyday. As backwards as Audi seems to be sometimes ( Not releasing the S6 Sedan) in the states I have a hard time believing they would cut there own throats by stopping production of the Bi-Turbo motor. In fact you see more and car car makers going Turbo. Dont get me wrong I would love to own a M-5 or S6 SEDAN but for what I Paid for my 2.7 I am very happy. As for the Resale Value Who Cares, by time I part with my 2.7 ( Probably Ten years from now) I will give it to someone or Rebuild it. And as for Reliability My 2000 has 22K Flawless miles on it. I aslo believe that with proper maintenence and Mobil 1 I will have this Smile on my face for a long long time. Certainly past the 2004 Model Year.

Warranty probably won't cover this either.

Not rare from me! I don't litigate, so I've kept a cheery demeanor. So I'm told.
