Default What to do first 2.7T

Just got a great deal on a 2001 A6 2.7T. LOve to work on cars and this is my first AUDI (saabs, volvo mainly). Got the Bentley CD manual already. Not sport suspension. THus would like to increase handling first then go for power. Don't want to lower because roads not great in PA. Shocks, 17-18" wheels, Strut brace, poly bushings, thicker sway bars. Hey Audi guys need your advice. What should I do first and where can you get the stuff

Default Rear sway bar, wheels, tires and I would do springs

I live in OH and the roads are not great here either. But the springs are a HUGE improvement.

Default Do some kind of driver-training/track day first. That will really

help you understand your (current) car and how it behaves. Then you will be in a much better position to understand "mods" as to how you want to change/improve your car. If you'd rather simply throw a bunch of money for mods at your car...go ahead. You will have no idea what the end result will be, but you can post happily about all your "mods". Springs will make a difference in how the car rides/handles, but without the properly-matched dampers you're not really doing any good. Most after-market springs will lower the car, which you indicate you don't want. Going to larger-diameter wheels with lower-profile/higher-performance tires will make a huge difference in ride/handling/braking. If you want to do those things, perhaps do them first before spending $$$ on suspension. The factory sport (PSK) rear bar is a super mod for little $$, and is a DIY install. The H-Sport sway bars are simply more aggressive (and more $$) than the PSK bars. Use the search for suspension info (springs, shocks/dampers, coil-overs)...there is LOTS!

You are wise to work thru these questions/answers before adding MORE POWER! Learn your car and the impacts of your (carefully-chosen) mods and you will be ready to fully appreciate what a chip can do!
