its not as easy as it used to be, best to pull the tint off and get it re-tinted after you pass...
you can ask on the NJ/NY/CT forum... maybe somebody knows somebody that knows someebody.

WOW! The laws sound REAL strict up there...
I have 50% up front and 20% in the rear.
The UTAH law states that it must be 50% or higher up front and the rears can be pitch black for all they care...
I think 50/20 looks the best. I am glad I didn't do 20% all the way around because I can see better now at night and don't have to worry about it getting passed.

That's less strict than my neighbors to the north. NH does not allow ANY tint!
...and 20% on the rear windows is pretty dark. Remember, tinti is measured in % of light that passes through. So 20% blocks out 80% of light, which is pretty dark, MA allows tint up to 35% all around except for the windshield.
That reminds me...January is inspection sticker time for me.
