OK, serious answer.....
The offset will make them stick out beyond the wheel well and the tires are too wide and will rub. You need 18 x 7.5 or 8 with ET43-40 offset with a 235/40/18 width tire. There are several versions of this wheel, OEM and replica that will work on a 98 A6. My pic poster has 17 x 7.5 ET43 the RS4 type wheel which were OEM on my former A6.
