X-Post: Question on iPod install with 2002 Symphony II
I've been doing some research on the Forums, the Internet, and Nebuchadnezzar's iPod install in his 2001 allroad.
I am about to purchase a 2002 allroad with Bose. As I understand it, the 2002 uses the Symphony II head unit, where the 2001 uses the Symphony. (Is this correct?)
If the 2001 and 2002 allroads use different head units, then how different is the install from how Neb did it?
I have purchased the BlitzSafe adapter from AutoToys.com. I want to be able to use my iPod and the in-dash 6-disc changer. I am willing to build some sort of analog switch to switch between the iPod and the changer if necessary. I guess I am concerned that the Symphony II doesn't have an external CD changer input, thus negating the usefulness of the adapter and the possibility of using a switch.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Am I way wrong about the difference in head units?

Yes, but I want the quality of sound and elegance of
(the final result of) installation of a direct connection.
According to replies on the Off-Topic and Audio Fori, it looks like Symphony II ships with both the internal changer and a pre-run connection for a second changer.
Thanks for the reply!
Stephen
