Default XM & Sony Ericsson HCB-300 install w/pics

bought an hcb-300 at frys electronics in downers grove, il this weekend (frys is teh greatest store on the planet.)

2 weekends prior, i bought another xm roady2, after giving my other one to a friend - installed it inside the area under the armrest, fits PERFECTLY with no mounting brackets. the wires go underneath the bottom plastic piece, completely out of view.

installed it the same day, found this to be the cleanest looking, least-obtrusive location for the control head to go. i hard-wired the control box to the fuse panel for ignition-activated power, just like the passport 7500 hardwire i did.

teh pic:

used my treo to take the picture, sorry for the quality. the hcb-300 works GREAT with the treo650 - haven't seen any problems with it just yet.

we'll see. next up, MEGACAR computer+internet+entertainment+nerd... ETA: 1 month.

Default a couple of questions...

I have the same hardware. Where did you hardwire the power exactly. Can you post a picture? Where is your antenna located? TIA for the info.

antenna - pulled wire through the middle
child seat anchor:

control unit for hcb-300 is underneath the seat, wires follow the plastic by the door (not visible):

radar detector: wired into the fuse block:

(as is the radar remote head)

The HCB-300 is wired direct to the fuse block for ignition power. The radar detector, same. The XM RADIO is plugged into the power outlet behind the armrest, which seemed to be the easiest way - as long as you remember to turn the xm radio off when you shut the car off.

Default another question

Which speaker did you use for the HCB-300? Also which mic?

My 2001 has the speaker on the passenger side, it didn't seem to be loud enough.
