I know the place
One of the nicer areas from what I can remember.
I moved into Gurnee right at the start of the building boom. It was nice at the time although the traffic to and from work (Abbott) sucked. I imagine the traffic is horrendous now.

No kidding! She heard on one of her Chinese radio stations that bbq is bad because of the
charcoal. I reasoned that I use very little, and besides, I always use leaner cuts with minimal fat (she monitors my cholestorol), and someof it drips into the bbq so I never get to eat it. so last year when she stayed over in China when I had to come back, I bought another. So far, it has survived.

LOL! I've never heard that one before...After all, charcoal is just pre-burned wood.
(and people have used wood as fuel for cooking for thousands of years.) Nothing weird about it. If anything, I think that most people claim BBQ is unhealthy because of the fat in the meat. But, like you said, most of it drips into the fire anyways...

Yeah, I agree. But she treats what she hears on there like it was cast in stone
from Moses or Buddha. I have asked her before, "If Chinese food is so great, why is Buddha always so damn fat?" She just gives me the evil eye.
