Pulled out to pass a bus Friday morning - jumped on the accelerator (was in Sport mode) and as I passed through about 50, car shuddered, lost power, and the EPC and MIL lamps came on.

Limped it home, VAG'd it and got the following codes:

17953 - Throttle Valve Controller: Malfunction
P1545 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 00001000
Fault Priority: 4
Fault Frequency: 1
Reset counter: 39
Mileage: 94062 km
Time Indication: 0
Date: 2009.04.03
Time: 08:34:39

Freeze Frame:
RPM: 2816 /min
Mass Air / Rev.: 305.2 mg/str
Temperature: 49.5°C
Part Throttle
Load: 23.1 %
Speed: 84.0 km/h

17973 - Throttle Actuator (J338): Lower Stop not Reached
P1565 - 008 - Implausible Signal - MIL ON
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 11000010
Fault Priority: 4
Fault Frequency: 1
Reset counter: 40
Mileage: 94064 km
Time Indication: 0
Date: 2009.04.03
Time: 09:01:11

Freeze Frame:
Load: 25.1 %
Load: 75.7 %
Temperature: 99.0°C
Temperature: 39.0°C
Voltage: 11.22 V
Speed: 0.0 km/h

Did a little research and some folks said a throttle body adaptation would clear it. But couldn't it to work. Finally had to have it towed to the dealer. Fortunately I have an extended warranty otherwise I'd probably be looking at some serious coin.

Ay yi yi!

Default You're not going to believe this . . .

The dealer pulled a piece of scratch pad (like the green 3M scratch pad) out of my throttle body. The dealer who did my 55K service must have left it in there. When I jumped on the gas the air intake must have finally dislodged it. Fortunately it didn't damage anything and only took an hour to diagnose and fix.

Needless to say I'm going back to the dealer who did the 55K service and asking for some money.

Thought you should know.

Put them to court and pay extra fine! Put their dealer name up online for people to know!

Glad to hear it didn't cause any serious damage. I'd definitely go see the service manager from the delaership that did your 55K service and show them paperwork from the dealership that just fixed your car. Idiots!!
