Hi all, looking for ideas please as to what may be ailing my car.

It's been a good starter since owned (approaching 2 years and 20k miles) however recently, when i'd go to switch to start, there'd be nothing other than a single pretty quiet click under the bonnet. At first it would do this for three or four times then start.. and when it engages it starts well, no issue

Recently a sudden turn for the worse and lat week it was taking up to 30-40 turns before the car will start. Again, as soon as it actually turns over, it's away

I tried to book it in with my local garage (independent) but he's busy at the moment and now having tried it for up to 40 plus times, the car isnt getting past this single click

I'm wondering if this sounds like starter motor to you guys or maybe a relay - but i'm not well versed with these cars yet and would appreciate any ideas please. When the click occurs, the lights dont go dim, the dash stays lit etc
