2005 audi a6 3.2 quattro produced may 4, 2005 Timing Chain
Hello everyone, I have found a great deal on an 2005 audi a6 quattro produced in may 4 2005. I have a deal to buy from a gentlemen who went through a divorce and wants to sell. my only issue is that i have been told that the 2005 audi a6 models with the 3.2 v6 engine. The car to my knowledge does not make the noise but i do not want to take any chances hence why i am asking insight on this topic. I am knowledgable with cars/audi but that job seems to much for me.
My questions, Do all 2005 a6 3.2 early production years have that issue? and i have noticed that when you go to turn the car over, the engine kind of jumps while it starts. It is hard to explain

In all likelihood, the chain guides would fail before a well maintained chain. You are buying an 8 year old vehicle. Be aware that you have no idea of how the previous owner maintained the vehicle and you may get lucky or unlucky...this is all a crap-shoot, to a degree.
I just stopped by my friend's garage, to get my winter tires put on my car, while there we saw a relatively new Ford Escort which was recently purchased USED...the issue was that the previous owner didn't do regular oil changes and guess what...there was so much build up in the valves and such that the car essentially needed a new engine. Then again you could get lucky...when I bought my C6 it had a small oil leak, when changing the valve cover gaskets the inside looked almost pristine. My car had been dealer maintained from day 1 and had service records over 30 pages.

So I would say that if the owner can show that maintenance was done right then the car can be ok for a long time. You can also have a euro independent shop take a look at it.
Bit if the maintenance is a mistery, I would pass. Based on my experience with Audis, all gambles were losers.
