2006 A6 Avant Slow to Cold Start

2006 A6 Avant Slow to Cold Start
The ignition in my 2006 A6 Avant is taking a long time to turn over the engine during a cold start. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 seconds, and then the engine barely seems to catch before coming to life. I live in the Pacific Northwest so it is rarely under 30 degrees when the car is cold started. When the engine is warm (or barely warm), there is no problem whatsoever; the car starts immediately when the ignition key is turned on. The car has 86K miles and I just had the original battery replaced. Logic suggests some issue with the starter mechanism. I plan to take the car to my local Audi mechanic; meanwhile are there any thoughts from the Audi community here? Many thanks.

Hi Matt,
I live in Manchester, WA. My '06 Avant had the starter replaced 2 years ago, The first start of the day has always been a little rough, maybe taking 2 seconds at the most. Like you all starts after that are pretty instantaneous. I replaced the original battery at 5 years and 35k miles. I'm now at 43k. Long way of saying I do not have a good answer to your question but I was hoping you might share the name of the mechanic you trust with your Avant. I had the last service with the dealer in Tacoma and will be looking for an indie in the future.

Thanks for the reply, I figure the starter is probably the issue.
My mechanic is Pacific Rim Automotive in Seattle. They were recommended by someone I know who owns a 2006 Avant. I've been there twice, once for the 85K service and the other for a new battery. I've been pleased with my experience there. Prior to moving to Seattle, I had the car serviced at an Audi dealer.

I have the exact same issue in my 06 Avant, and I did follow the instructions in the "Engine Starts Hard or Held in Crank for a Long Time" TSB but unfortunately it did not help.
