Default 5.2 V10 into 3.2 - Tranny Question...

Sooo I'm thinking of swapping in a 5.2 V10 into my 2007 3.2. Can I keep the A6 transmission, or does the 5.2 run on a different one. Also, do the differentials have to be adjusted or swapped?

Sorry but I don't know whether to laugh or cry for you... You should realize that at the current prices for S6, you could buy one for cheaper than all the expenses you'll need to account for IF you can even do the supposed transplant. BTW, you'll need to swap a LOT more than just the engine to do your transplant and make the car driveable: suspension (5.2 is a LOT heavier), ECU, etc...Also, search the forum and you'll find out exactly the various tranny types...

The big question is WHY? What do you want to do a transplant? If it's for the sake of more power, well unfortunately there are few add-on mods for any of the 3.2, 4.2, or 5.2 engines which are simple and go-fast. However, if you were to get a 3.0T, then you can start modding relatively easily.

In all honesty lol its a car that I was given by a close friend, and it was something we always joked about doing. Because we were dumb. He passed recently, so now I'm seriously considering doing it for the hell of dumb camaraderie.

Sorry to hear of your friend pass. As for the engine swap, IMHO, it's a waste of time, money, and effort. Plus, due to structural tolerances related to the size of the tranny in the S6 vs. your 3.2, it may not even be feasible. Now, if you don't care at all about the "purity" of the engine I read on the interweb someone who dropped a Chevy LS1 V8 and made it work.
