Bad Ignition Switch?

So my key eventually stopped responding after leaving the car off for more than 10-15 minutes. I ended up getting the ignition to come on after repeatedly clearing the codes for about 30 minutes. I left the ignition on all night with a battery charger hooked up to it so I could get it to the dealer in the morning. So tuesday morning I drive the car to Audi and leave it with them. I get a call today saying the ACC/start module has been working fine the past 2 days, no codes or errors. They're able to start it throughout the day with no problem. Intermittent electrical gremlins like this are an absolute nightmare in diagnosing and I'm not spending $2k+ "just in case". I'm just hoping it doesn't fail again until I get this car sold. Hopefully 15 years from now when I think I may get another Audi, they get this crap sorted out.

Fixed my A6 2006
Thanks for posting the video link. This procedure with the hazards + brake + highbeam worked for me and I was able to clear the fault code. Car immediately came to life again and I could start it. Disconnected laptop and VAG-COM cable and drove away. You saved me a ton of money and grief at the Audi dealer (whose service manager claimed to not know what i was talking about then hung up on me). Got my kit from Ross-Tech: Home ($350 + shipping)
