BOTH remotes stopped working; is it batteries or programming...
first one remote stopped working, then 2-3 weeks later the second. I tried putting in new batteries, didnt help...
and both remotes got worse with time -
first, only the auto-start didnt work & proximity doors didnt (i.e. keyless entry, and push-button engine start) but at least the buttons on the remotes worked, but now, a few weeks later, even regular alarm doesnt turn on, and doors dont lock/unlock... of course everything still works if i use the actual metal key...
please tell me i dont have to go to the dealer?!?!?! im not leaving my car for 4 days again, and driving out on a 2003 Jetta loaner, just cause my keys need reprogramming.
what can i do ??

I just got serviced for this problem...
My keys were not working intermittently. I initially thought it was low batteries too. There seems to be 2 TSB's for this issue. First thing dealer/tech is required to do is order new Key Fobs including spare key for you. Then they reprogram and test. If that still doesn't solve the sensing issue, they diagnose further like checking the sensing module or antenna in the pass. rear window. At one point, they were questioning my tint being the interference but I told them I had this problem before I got tinted. At the end it turned out to be the ignition switch, of all things(Push-Start was never a problem)...works fine now, but they still insist there may have a chance of it happening again due to my tint
