carfax accident indicator question

carfax accident indicator question
I'm looking at buying an A6 out of state that has an accident indicator on the carfax report. They've explained that it was a minor incident where an object (golf ball) hit the hood of the car. They also sent me the body work paperwork. So i feel pretty confident that the car is clean.
My question is: How much does something like the accident indicator hurt the car's value?
To be double sure, should I also try to obtain a police report?
thanks

See inside
An accident on the carfax report can scare some people off. If you have proof of the damage, though, if someone is seriously interested it should not hit the value much, especially if it was not a collision.
On the other hand, I'd still want to paint meter the car to see if all the panels except the good were original paint.
Trust, but verify.
