Default Deal on torque converter

At least for some of you. Part# 09L 323 571 A

I know it fits some of our cars (but not mine, sadly, which requires the 'D', and looks to be failing).

vwparts.com:

http://www.vwparts.com/parts-outlet-center/?pg=3

Original price $1395.00 USD, new MSRP: $249.00 USD

Apparently available via your VW dealer. Fitment: 2002-07 Phaeton; 2005-08 Audi A4/S4; 2005-08 Audi A6/S6

seems like a fabulous deal

any techs out there who can tell us what is the avg replacement interval?

in other words

is this something someone would want to buy at this great price even if they had to hold it for a yr or so b4 install?

I'm no tech, but my TC was replaced under CPO warranty at about 70k miles. I'm told the repair would have been about $3,000.

My TC was also replaced under warranty just below 50k miles. I think you need to add new tranny fluid when this procedure is done.

To those who had their TC done: What were the symptoms? I'm trying to diagnose my 2005 4.2, which has developed a 'shudder' on light throttle, and feels like it is 'slipping'. I'm going to be changing the fluid (near as I can tell, it has never had the update according to VCDS, and I won't know until I drop the fluid as to what it has to be sure...and even then, if dirty, well, hmmm)

The symptom is most noticeable in 6th gear, at 88 kph (55mph), under light throttle, the rpm's will 'dance' a bit, and the car feels like you are running over rumble strips in the road. My 'gut' is telling me the torque converter is having problems 'locking', and what I'm feeling is the lockup clutch juddering trying to lock. Once over about 2100 rpm, the sensation tends to go away.

There are no codes set on the transmission or engine, which I was really hoping I would see, as that seems to be the 'big' indicator that the TC is having the seal issue...

my rpm's used to dance coming down a hill on a cold engine (little to no pressure on the accelerator pedal). Even though TC replacement helped the issue - I can still see the rpms dance at times.
here is the issue: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho...ighlight=surge

I used to feel the car miss on freeway speeds, around 75mph - but I think that was because of the carbon buildup.

Holy smokes, what a deal! I verified through my local Audi dealership that this price is legit; 4 left in stock.

It's been superseded like 4 times since this part number, so you have to get them to override the superseded number.

In search that part number, I found this.

I guess search for your transmission code (mine is HLK for instance) and see if it's listed here.

This is almost too good to be true. My code is JER and my tranny has the cold start down hill rpm bounce.

How do i find my tranny code? It is a 2005 A6 4.2L with BNK motor. I'm swapping a used motor into it and would like to do the TC while its apart. This would save me a fat stack!
