Default Disappointing proformance

So Ive had my 2005 C6 4.2 for about 2 years now and Ive never been really impressed with the performance. Seem like I have to really push down on the pedal to get it to "GO". I tried the throttle body adjustment but it didnt really do much. Do you guys/girls have any suggestions to get some better performance out of this car?

GO, as compared to what? My 3.2 probably feels like a dog if compared to a Veyron. Also what kind of maintenance has the car had. Finally has you car been looked at for carbon build up?

Better 502 oil

I have not been very impressed with Chevron Techron. I have found Seafoam to be much better.

In a 7 year old car the ATF should have been changed, as well as all 3 differentials. Audi issued anTSB on the ATF in your car directing a change in the type of ATF put in your car and providing a software update as well.

Hey KevinGary, Can you point out the TSB for the ATF change and 3 diffs? I ask the question several times to different service depts and specialists and they maintain the lifetime part mumbo jumbo for the ATF as well as no known software update.

I'll be doing an ATF flush soon anyway because it just feels like it needs [something]. Rarely does it shift unnoticeably or as succinct as any lexus or acura I've had. As though it were confused what gear to be in. The only time its crisp is when I get on the pedal from the very get go. In some cases when I'm cruising low speed and really step on pedal, it will thump down. I love this car, but it feels as tho for the money these subtleties shouldn't exist because they are noticeable to even passengers in the car. Embarrassing at times!!

My full TSB library is linked in my signature. But here is the ATF TSB http://uberlame.com/a6_tsb/Transmiss...ween%203-4.pdf

If you look at the tranny's manufacturers website they recommend that the ATF be changed every 50k miles.

I have over 145,000 miles on my 05 4.2 now. I have to say I just changed my trans fluid last week and did not think initially it made much of a difference. But after driving it for a week now, I have noticed the shift points higher and the car does accelerate better in drive. I used Motorcraft Mercon SP fluid and will change fluid again along with a filter in the trans at 150,000 miles in another few weeks. Kinda surprised to see this increase in performance.

Like you, I never thought the 4.2 had a whole lot of power especially when it was hot out. The trans fluid change really helped my car this last week. Just the few extra hundred RPM of shift speed increase, gets the car moving much quicker. Who would have thought an ATF fluid change would make the car accelerate better and shift higher? I always thought the A6 had computer controlled shift points.

Okay I want to to get this procedures done but I am so against audi robbing me and its not something ill do myself. Do you suggest going to an indi shop or sucking it up to pay the Audi dealer?

Also ill appreciate any other info that will help with performance.

thanks

Thanks a lot! I guess I'm over by a lot. I'll give an update when its done. I also have the big 75k coming too so I'll post an update on any changes to performance.
