DIY Brake Fluid Flush
#32
I have a 2003 TT. The brake booster went out so I had to replace it. That means I have both issues, which are: 1) ABS is dry (I removed it completely to get the booster out) and 2) Air in the lines (since I had the master cylinder off). I don't have a VCDS/Vag-Com yet.
So my questions are:
1. Can I get started on bleeding the lines while I get the VCDS?
2. Since I have a dry ABS and air in the lines, do I still pretty much follow the OP's directions? I bought a vacuum bleed kit and will use that method unless someone tells me one of the other methods are better because of my situation.
3. Do I need the actual VCDS software / cable or will one of the hand held devices you can find on places like Amazon work for the ABS pump refill?
Any other help, suggestions, comments on my situation would be very much appreciated.

Didn't get a chance to do it until last week. It wasn't that hard as I thought it would be. Again, thank you very much for the DIY. The old brake fluid ate up my plastic turkey baster really bad though, it looks like it's shattered. Should have gotten the glass or stainless.

Do I need to open the nipples?
For this procedure, bleeding the ABS pump, do you need to have the front, or rear, bleeding nipples open? Or do you just run this through vcds without hooking anything up to the lines.

You should hear the fairly loud pump clicking during this time.Click the [Done, Go Back] button and you're all set[/Qfollow.

Yes open the nipples so the old fluid can escape the system, but make sure to keep topping up the revivour so you get too low on fluid and suck in air. Do each nipple separately, not all four at once.
