Default DRL Error

I get a headlight light bulb error on the dashboard information screen on my 2007 A6 Quattro. The symbol is a light bulb with an X on it. Both the DRL lights, which are incandescent bulbs, work fine.

Here is the VCDS error dump.

Could this be caused by the light bulbs themselves? The right one is the original that came with the car and I get the error very infrequently. The left one is a Sylvania replacement, the same model, and the error is always on.

If both lights are working and the warning for both lights, you may have a sensor control module issue. It happened to me a couple year ago, all light were working but it reported warning on rear right side of the car.

Check the orange markers on the lower part of the front bumper. I think those are the M1 and M3 bulbs.

Interesting, never thought to check those orange markers. I always assumed it was the DRL-s.

Is the sensor control module in the headlight assembly?

It's those yellow marker lights.

Removal/replacement:

The front side marker light bulb in question is WY5W or Sylvania 2827.

You may need to remove the driver side wheel if you have a headlight wash -- the pump will be in the way. Parking Light Change 2005-2011 Audi A6 - 2008 Audi A6 3.2L V6
