Fixed Nav, at least I thought I did...
My NAV has been broke for some time, and I'm about to trade/sell my A6 so I thought I'd fix some stuff, especially since my bluetooth took a swim.
I know I had fault codes for a short in the antenna as well as bad media, so I bought a replacement GPS Fakra antenna and a 2015-2016 DVD off of eBay.
When I put the DVD in, it upgraded my Nav system as expected, however it still didn't work without the antenna (no surprise).
I swapped the antenna, and was getting zero satellites, but at least the NAV was being displayed. As I drove around, the satellites ranged around between 0 and 3, but I was always showing up in the Alaskan wild, not Kansas. Turns weren't detected either.
The NAV seems like it's working by all accounts except it isn't locating me properly. I've reset the system, and restored MMI and Nav defaults and the situation persists. Not sure what to do at this point other than replace the DVD drive, but it sure seems like a software issue at this point.
If I wasn't about to trade the car in, I'd buy a VAG com and figure it out, but was wondering if anyone had any thoughts first?
Thanks!

My antenna went bad on my 2006. i just replaced it with a cheap ebay gps antenna. It works fine without issues. Just unplug the antenna in the back of the unit plug in the new one.

I did do just that and it wasn't working. I checked the NAV again today and it was working. Apparently the cheap antenna needs to be placed on the rear deck back near the glass. Once I did that, I had 6-7 satellites and it's working great now.
I would guess that the Nav system needs at least 4 satellites to be able to accurately tell where you are.
