HELP!!! just got 2006 A6 with OEM HIDs, but also want LED's... How can i retrofit???
just bought a 2006 A6 with 39k miles and FULLY LOADED (paddle shifters, Nav, etc), but obviously doesn't have LED's.
eBay seller said his LED's won't work if i have OEM HID's... any ideas???
is there:
1. an aftermarket LED Headlamp that has LED's
OR
2. OEM LED's that can be retrofitted to my existing OEM HID's
I have no problem using VAG-COM... i did it on my previous Passat... I had LED's & HID's on it (but was OEM Halogen when i bought it)
PLEASE HELP!!!

there are original LED elements for installing or ready LED headlights
Let me insert my comments. Here what I knew based on reviewing this site, German sites, Polish site, Ukrainian sites…
So, if you already have A6 bi-xenon headlights, here are the ways how you can implement original LED functionality there. I ranked them by the price from the most expensive:
1. About 750-800 euro is the price for a pair of LED headlights ( without ballasts, bulbs. You already have them in your headlights). You can buy them at ebay.de or there is a company in Poland http://www.audiled.eu which also sells them. Be careful if purchasing on ebay! as a rule all headlights there are sold with the defective LED ( their price should be cheap). If LED are repaired or the headlights are new, the price is about 750-800…
So, it is the most expensive way.
2. Sometimes it is possible to buy A6 LED headlights on ebay.de for a cheap price ( 80-300 euro) and of course with not working LED ( they are defective). So, after purchasing your LED will not function. It is known problem of LED headlights produced earlier.
But you can resolve this problem – you can buy a good LED boards without such defects. Having explored threads on the forum, I know a place where it is possible to buy them at the moment - http://garna-fara.net/index.php?targ...oduct_id=29943 the price – 180 euro.
So, this way is good if you can find cheap headlights.

In order to replace LED boards in these headlights, it is necessary to take off their glasses. It is not easy procedure, as the headlights have cold glue. Here are possible procedures:
a) Some experts say they can do that only in oven. So, when heat is correctly distributed around a headlight, the glass is possible to take off. But it is impossible to do with a heat gun ( it is my case).
b) It is possible to remove the headlights quickly just by cutting the edges with a dremel, like this http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/show...yle-headlights . and at the end you need to glue these glasses back. So, it is possible to do that fast, but esthetic effect can have questions, thought it can be not noticeable under the hood , as it will cover headlights.
c) Another way is to damage own glasses to take them off with a dremel. But after replacing/installing LED boards, new original glasses can be installed http://garna-fara.net/images/detaile...C6_glasses.jpg , 150 euro.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
3. Or you can buy new LED elements for installing them into your headlights with yourself

the price is 250euro.
If you have time and desire to take off the glasses – then it is cheap.
If you want to make all fast, then new glasses are useful, it will be a little expensive.

I actually found on eBay.com (USA) from 2 different Auto-Wrecking yards the 2009 Original LED's... they only want $150 for left and $180 for right (since it's different sellers)
Will these work???
do i have to VAG-COM them to get them to work as DRL's???

What about these?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-...ht_5480wt_1165
I have them and have no complaints. fraction of cost. They are not as bright as the S6 ones, but are more like the MBZ E350 hockey stick ones in terms of brightness.

I hate to revive a thread this old, but where can I get the replacement OEM lenses shown in one of the images Igor_MTM posted? I have a 2006 Audi A6 Quattro with HID headlights and i just want to remove the lenses and put leds in and I have searched the internet up and down for days and can't find the lenses anywhere. I thought for sure I would be able to find them on the site that the pictures are hosted from, but nothing. Can someone please help?
