HELP PLS!! Calipers
Recently took my 06 A6 3.2Q for a normal brake maint when the mechanic said, my caliper pistons are messed up and sticking out too much b/c i drove the vehicle for too long w/o changing out the brake pads. i havent heard any squeaking so i was kinda shocked to hear that (does anyone know why it didnt squeak?). i took the vehicle in b/c the peda was vibrating when i pressed it.
where would one be able to get a front brake caliper for an 06 A6 3.2Q? i rather not buy OEM since its super expensive? does anyone know of any trusted brake supplier? its out of warranty so im SOL. any help would be greatly appreciate it!

so even if the brake pads were worn out, why is that being such a problem - I can see the argument that the rotor needs to be replaced, but fail to understand why the caliper is messed up.
Here is a DIY for brake pads replacement for our cars - this is the same caliper. https://www.audiworld.com/tech/wheel137.shtml
I suspect this guy doesn't know what he is doing, or he wants to extract more money from you.

it's the same...
But I'd be more concerned with ur brake sensors, that should have been screaming "BRAKE" (on ur right side of the cluster panel i.e speedometer) for a month or two... And on ur central info display...
