How hard is it to install new pads?
My pads are soon to go at 27k miles and my dealer wants almost $900 to change them. No thanks. I plan on doing this myself and was wondering if its a straight forward procedure.

I did my C5A6 front/rear this past summer, it's not bad,
I'm assuming the C6 is similar. See the docs here on how to, find the brake system for your vehicle. You'll need a special tool or tools to turn the rear caliper as you compress it($20 @harbor freight) You can get the pads online - STFA for ones specific to your vehicle.
Surprisingly, I found it as easy, or easier than my Tundras (that had rusted pins that I couldn't get out, even with an air chisel, so I had to change the calipers too.

If you have the 3.2, there are two different parts numbers...
for the front pads if you're going with OEM pads, so you'll need your VIN # handy at the parts counter. My brother and I changed them out pretty quickly, with the second side taking no time at all. It was my first time doing the brakes on these cars since the dealer had always covered brake jobs. The rears were fine so we didn't chage those out. I didn't have a vagcom anyway.

if you end up doing it yourself, would you mind taking pics? this is one thing i'd like to learn how
to do.
p.s. i believe there's special Audi caliper tool to make things easier...

I replaced mine with Akebono Euro Ceramics from Tirerack.com
seemed to be the best for what I wanted, and a decent price. Their stopping power is awesome! As good or better than my oem's were.

Front brakes are really simple, 2 guide pins (7mm hex needed) and a big screw driver to on the
lower right side to space the pads from the rotor. The rear brakes you will need a VAg tool to disable the E brake.
