I just bought a 2008 A6 Avant on Saturday. One of the rear seat belts is twisted and I need to remove the lower portion of the rear seat to get it straightened out. Is is the same as the C5 Avant, just pull up hard and it will pop out of the clips?

I pulled a little, but it didn't feel like it wanted to come loose and I didn't want to break anything in the first week of ownership.

The seat is hold by two clip where your legs are on both side under the seat. You have to pull it a bit hard. Those clip are into some plastic socket. Those socket could break. Bentley recommande to change it every times. There are pieces of steel wire around the area where you buckle the seat belt. Those wire are hold by steel hook bolt to your car. So you must pull the front first and you push down on the seat in the buckle area and at the same time, you push the seat backward. It is a bit hard but with patience you can do it. There are a some wire in that seat. Some are for the heated seat. But there are some for the air bag sensor. Try to not disconect thoses wires. If you have to, be sure to disconnect the battery and to discharge yourself from static electricity by touching the door latch or anything grounded to the car. You don't want to trigger the air bag by mistake.

Removing
– Pull front edge of seat bench out of retainers -1- (left and right).
– Disengage seat bench from retainers -4- (left and right) by pushing it firmly towards the rear.
– On vehicles with seat heating raise the seat bench high enough to be able to unplug the electrical connectors.
– Take electrical connector for side airbag out of groove → Fig..
– Take seat bench out of vehicle.
