Default Instrumental cluster

Is it possible to replace a 05 Audi A6 instrumental cluster with a 2011 instrumental cluster?

The C6 platform has the Audi 4th generation immobilizer system (IMMOBIL 4), which includes the instrument cluster and the J518 module on the steering column. This system precludes switching out either of these parts w/o disabling the Component Protection system, and then re-coding the new parts to the existing codes. This process usually requires an Audi dealership since the tech has to access the Audi AG database to re-code the replace parts. In addition, the 2011 part is probably an updated part given the 6--year separation between the model years. The IC may fit, but won't work with the 2005 model year. To confirm, you should ask your local dealership if it is even possible.
