Ok, after 8,000 miles with the A6 Avant, I'm feeling that the car has a higher MPG. And it was confirmed today.

When I was driving the Avant between 3000-5000 miles on my odometer, my real MPG (not computer trip MPG) was around 22 - 23 MPG.

Last week, I fill up a full tank, reset to trip to zero. Then, after driving 448 miles, I refilled my gas tank and it topped 18.5 gallons.

448 miles divided by 18.5 = 24.2 MPG.

Although I refilled at 448 miles, I felt I could have added another 27-32 miles, or a total of 475 -480 miles before filling up the tank.

Have a full tank of gas that gets you 475-480 miles of driving range really feels great. My allroad could only do 300 miles.

I have an average fuel consumption of more than 31MPG (Imperial) or 26.6 MPG (US) for the last 32 000 miles. I normally fills up after doing at least 500 miles. All the figures quoted is for City driving.

Just to make all you guys in the US jealous for not having the 3 liter diesel option. Excellent fuel effeciency with the power of the 4.2 V8.

Then realized 2006 A6 avant only comes with the 3.2.

aha, I thought it might be obvious...but I'm lazy. I should compare to mine, but it seems low.

Around the world there are countries where you can have it with a 2.0 TDI or the 4.2 V8 - heck, some of these countries still may use MPG
