MMI Anti Glare Coating Failing and Questions
Folks,
I am wondering if other members of this forum are experiencing the failing of the anti glare coating on their A6 MMI display. I recently wiped down my MMI display with glass cleaner I normally use for my sunglasses. The active agent is I believe an alcohol base. After wiping the screen I noticed a few small streaks marks that won't come off.
Is this normal for a new MMI display to do this? I purchased a new 2007 3.2 quattro A6 about 2 weeks ago.
I am currently exploring whether I can use a new car warranty to replace the screen.
If anyone has had a similar experience, I would welcome your thoughts.
Regards,
Andy

Re: next time stick to water imo...or nothing at all I use just microfiber??
Really! Well this may be 1 hell of an expensive lesson learned. I just can't believe there are no warning information about this. I looked in the user manual and there is no warnings about this.
Screen appears to be about 750 euros! Not including labor! I just hope this is a covered warranty item.

Try rubbing alcohol
add some non-moisturizing soap if streak won't come off. If it is still there, you probably ruined your anti-reflective coating.
I am in the optical business so here are some cleaning tips.
Never clean the screen dry.
Never use hot water.
Never use household cleaners that contain harsh chemicals or ammonia.
Only use a spray approved for anti-reflective coatings on your screen.
Do not spray directly onto the screen, use a soft paper towel or lint free cloth to apply and dry. Afterwards, use a micro-fiber cloth to remove streaks.

I have been using Invisible Glass for some time with success.
Made by Stoner. Great for all my monitors and do not seem to affect the anti glare coating. Says safe for tinted windows.
Best bet is to spray on a soft cloth rather than directly on the screen.
