Default New H&R springs installed.

So finally I installed the H&R lowering kit that lowers the car 40 mm. It has greatly improved the overall look of the car, and the handling is just superb now!

The car is very responsive now, and you have a better feel of what it is doing. However some people might think the suspension is too stiff now, but since I'm the driver of my own car I'm the one to be the judge of that... )

The installation of the front springs was as easy as on the C5, but the rear was a killer. It was very difficult to get the old springs out because there's hardly any room for tools in there. Installation of the new springs was not too bad, but still difficult. We loaded the springs using tools, and tied them down with some serious steel wire. With closed eyes and hoping to survive we succeeded in getting the springs in place using 2 crowbars and then cutting the steel wire holding them together. - That was quite an interesting experience... )

The problem now is that the car is so low that it has a tendency to rub on speed bumps and snow on the road. The distance to the ground is about 75 mm (3") - However the good news is that there's no rubbing between the fenders and the tires. It seems like Audi designed the car so the distance between the tires and fenders is greater than between the ground and the bottom of the car, so it will never be possible to get the tires much further up in the fenders than this.

I think you have all seen the "before" pictures so many times, so here's a bunch of "after pics." - enjoy!

Hey, that looks pretty nice! Are those sport or race springs?

Default Again, very nice, one of the major comments about the looks has been...

the wheel gap, especially on the non-sport models. That certainly helps to improve the stance of the car.

Of course, the other comments have been mainly about the front grille. Looks nice with the euro plate, but not as nice with the US plate.

Any other mods planned?

Default So far just new wheels planned.

I actually like the single frame design a lot. The A3 sportsback looks stunning, and both the A6 and the new A4 look great. However the rear end of the new A4 looks like sh*t IMO.

I have a set of 18" 7 spoke design wheels with 245/40 Goodyear Eagle F1 tires ready for the summertime.

I would love some of the stuff that my car didn't have when I bought it such as TV tuner and Voice recognition, but only if it is fairly simple to install.

Default Got them in Germany

I bought them from www.protun.net for 172 Euro including shipping.

The wheels on the pictures are the 17" from my old A4. They are actually too small, because the tires have the wrong diameter. I just put 16" winter wheels on the car with the right diameter, and not only do they fill up the fender gaps better, they also give me a slightly better ride height above the ground.

Do you live in Sweden yourself ?

Yes I'm from Stockholm.
Got a Oyster grey A6 C6 since November.

With 40mm lowering kit, it seems like big wheels like tex RS6 19'' wont fit?
Planing to buy 19'' ABT or RS6 19'' wheels.

179 Euro for 4 springs is not much.

Default It's a small world. I live in Stockholm too... :o)

Fitting 19" wheels will not be a problem as long as you buy tires that do not increase the overall diameter.

The standard size tires on the 18" wheels is 245/40, so 245/35 19" will give you the same diameter.

Check the link for a usefull tire size converter.

Tire size converter

Default Did your A6 come with standard or sport suspension, and...

if just the standard suspension, what's the effect been on adding sport springs without changing the
shock abosorbers as well?
