Oil burning 4.2 C6
My '05 4.2 burns about 1qt per 1,500~2,000miles. I have constantly got low oil pressure messages on my dash regarding this.
Would this be considered normal? I know that if I complain this to the dealer, they will say that oil burning is common with Audis.
My old '04 A4 3.0Q never burned a drop(?) of oil during my entire 78,000miles driving experience.

Mine burns no oil in 10,000 miles changes. Not a drop.-------
You better start pulling some oil samples and send them into a lab. I use Blackstone to sample. You have something not right. Was the engine babied on break in?

Oil burning has not been common with mine...
My '02 S8 (w/72k miles) uses no oil between changes. My '05 A6 (although with the 3.2) with 55k miles and my '04TT 3.2 with 38k miles have never had oil added between changes. My '99 A6 Avant was oil tight through 48k miles. The only one of my Audis that ever required adding oil between services was the '02 A6 2.7T, and that was 1/2 quart one time in 46k miles. For all of the above, the mileage has been a mix of 60% highway and 40% city use.
Based on my experience with my cars, yours is using too much oil. Can you tell if it's going out of the exhaust or on the ground?

No oil on the floor or in the exhaust - it has to go somewhere.
I have had several Audies and none have burned this amount of oil. My current cars require no oil between service.
Have someone follow you on a typical trip to see if there is some oil, especially during hard turns and stopping and accelerating.
Park the car on a steep slope and let it sit for some time. Move it and check for oil on the ground.
Disassemble as much 'plastic, covers from over and under the engine as possible and do a thorough inspection with a powerful light.

Burning oil was an issue back with the old 24v 2.8 because valves often didn't seat properly.
Havent' had the problem since in any of my Audi's. How did you break the engine in when new?
