That sounds about right. Not sure, but I might just try a different sensor/switch. As I remember, is not a true sender, but more of a switch. I am talking about the part by the oil filter (on the 4.2)

Alright, thank you. I'm gonna clean the engine with an oil additive, change the oil and the switch. See if that helps.

Be careful with the chemicals. There's a lot of very sensitive sensors and connectors under the hood. But if it's pretty gumped up yes clean it up change the oil, filter and the sensor see what happens Good luck
