problem with driver door lock
HI all. 2 weeks into my ownership of low mileage (44K) 2008 A6.
I realize the drives door is not opening with the fob, same with closing.
This doesn't happen all the time, maybe 50% of the time.
Funny thing is, all other doors no problem.
I changed the fob battery first thing, no cure.
I took the car for its first oil change at AUDI dealer and they said they don't want to order and sell me $770 latch immediately, they "lubed it really well" and lets see if that works.
Problem continues ....
What you guys think ?
I'm thinking nothing electronics since it does work sometimes and no problems with other doors.
When I use the key to open the door (because I obviously need to get in) the lock does seem unreasonably tough so maybe the lube job was not "really well" done.
Anyone with similar problems in the past ?
All feedback and input appreciated, I don't want to buy $770 new latch either ....

I had the front passenger door stop locking earlier this year on my 2010 3.0T, and latch replacement did the trick. Mine was covered under CPO w/deductible, but my recollection is that the quote was in the $500-600 range at the dealer without the warranty.

I had the same issue with the back driver's door a few months ago, and it was a pretty expensive repair at a BOSCH third-party shop, though they used a new OEM lock. Apparently there's a fair amount of labor and the part's not cheap. You can search for me in this forum and you should find it and the cost.

Thanks all. Your feedback and other threads I have seen here confirms that this is a common problem and latch -as a matter of fact- seems to be the culprit here. Now I get to investigate about the most affordable way to tackle this. Good thing is that this problem is only sporadic 50/50 of the time it works or not, and I am never stuck in or out .... so this is not urgent. I don't know if that $770 quote they gave me included labor or not, that will be next question to AUDI dealer. I am kind of hesitant letting anyone else to do this. Thanks all again, appreciated.
