Default programming keys

Hi, I have one smart key and I have ordered another one. Dealer supposed to charge me extra $130 to program it. But I found a simple procedure to do it myself:

"You need both of your switchblade keys to re-program them, you can program up to five switchblade keys:

Take the key you do not want to program (if it already works) and put it in the ignition. Turn it one click forward.

Close and lock the drivers door with the second key with the window down (you can also do this from the inside of your car).

On the second key (the one in the drivers door) press the 'UNLOCK' button ONCE only, the lights will flash on the car, but the doors will remain locked

With the second key still in the drivers door, unlock then lock the door again.

Pull the key from the slot and also take out the key out of your ignition and than test the remote functions.

Repeat for second key fob / switchblade / key whatever you want to call it !!! Enjoy!! This worked on my 04 a4 1.8t !!

You might end up doing it a few times to get the hang of the procedure so its all a smooth one step type of thing and the comp will learn it! NOTICE if you are too slow / too fast this will not work!!
"

Does anybody tried this? Would it work on A6? Can I reprogram it with my old VAG-COM instead? (It is TWIN-KEY not CAN model)

Bumping this in the hope that someone can tell me if this will work on a C6 (2006) A6. I have seen the above instructions in several places on the internet but no confirmation that it will work with my car. I know that the key needs to be programmed by the dealer in order to start the ignition. But for now I would just like to get a cheap remote and program it to unlock the doors. Will it work? Thanks!

Procedure may work.
Suggest looking at VCDS wiki to see what class immo C6 has.

Unlikely an aftermarket remote would work.

You may be able to get a remote sans blade and have it programmed by the dealer - the immobilizer needs authorization from the mothership in Germany.

Default immobilizer

it works for the remote only, you still need to take it to the dealer to program the key to start the car.
