cross posting from the Q7 forum...
I swappped the DRLs in the Q for LEDs and later discovered that recoding the control module for the lights as having LED DRLs stopped the error codes. As the module is the same in the pre-facelift A6, this may be a solution for anyone wanting LEDs but not the hassle of resistors.
