It seems cheap to leave that off a car that costs $30,000 new... never mind $60,000+!!!!

What's the marginal cost of that... practically nothing.

In fact, it would probably have been less expensive to just put it in all cars so that you didn't have to create two different molds, parts, inventory, etc.

Pete, That was the exact thinking I had. I mean the computer is capable of it. It has to calculate MPG so it can figgure the amount of miles that are left on the tank as it show's that.

Add me to the list of nicely optioned '06 A6's with no trip computer. It is a feature I would like to have... but not half as much as the heated steering wheel that I do not have either!

Are there many heated wheel A6's out there?

I am the original owner of an 05 4.2 with the trip computer and the heated stearing wheel. I think that they are both fairly common options, at least in snow country.

I have the heated steering wheel as well.

We'll see if it is any good once next winter rolls around.

I do love the feature where you can press "econ" after engine is shut down and it bleeds off the engine coolant heat for up to 30 min after...

Keeps the car toasty warm when you are running errands in the winter!

As long as we are discussing cool features how about the solar sunroof keeping the ventilation fans running whenever the sun is out? My dark blue car never becomes an oven. Even if I leave the car in the middle of a sunny parking lot for hours the interior temperature stays the same as the outside temperature.

That's the **** head melon farmers at Audi for ya. Screw everyone by giving them a cheap *** red low res LED DIS when they have superior hi-res COLOR LCDs, but only give them to people who are worldly educated enough to read the fine print and order the thing stoked from the factory.

My brother has an 05 4.2 S-line with tech, has the red center screen, with trip computer. He was pissed when I bought my 07 and it had the backup camera and lcd center screen. Pretty sure its part of a premium package, standard on V8s.

And so on and so on to '10+ probably because these idiots can't seem to understand people DON'T want these inferior piece of crap LED DIS screens. For christ sake, they even put this POS screen in the damn R8!! Doesn't a car that expensive freakin deserve the COLOR LCD trip computer??!! Guess not since it's cheaper than the Gallardo, which does come with one. Look what they did to the Veyron with that cheapo blue Passat DIS. But of course, that's a VW at heart, not an Audi part bin car.
