Steering wheel problem....
Hey guys I need some help....
My mom's 2007 A6 Avant's steering wheel no longer goes down. I got out of the car last time and it went up like it always does and now it is stuck in that position and won't go down. It still telescopes but not up or down. I checked all the fuses and found nothing. Any ideas? Of course being woman a trip to the dealer is like the worst possible consequence for my mom. She of course thinks that I broke it...
BTW we have the maintenance plan that covers all maintenance it's okay to bring the car in for it's 25,000 mile service like 400 miles before 25k and still get it covered right?

The electrical steering column in my 05 4.2 is currently being replaced. I have included part of the
TS that was just issued.

Condition
* Electric steering column adjustment does not work or has restricted adjustment movement.
* Incorrect operation of Easy Entry according to TSB 2015819 can be ruled out.
Steering is not compromised by this condition.
Technical Background
Due to external forces, the stored end positions of the electric steering column adjustment do not match the real end positions. External forces may be the customer's pulling on the moving steering wheel while exiting the vehicle or the customer's legs blocking the steering column movement. In seldom cases it may be a binding issue

Thanks very much!
So they have to replace the whole steering column? How many days does it take to replace the thing?
It was working fine although it would make a little squeak sound when it went up and then today nothing. Of course I got blamed for it!

I only had the squeak. I complained about the noise and the dealer is replacing the entire unit.
The dealer has had the car for 4 days so far, and is guessing they will need it for another 2 or 3 days waiting for the parts to arrive. We'll see.
