Supposedly I'm getting an iPod adapter installed in my 05 A6
My car is in for service b/c of an electrical meltdown it had (exciting), and when I had it towed in, I mentioned that I wanted to get on the list for an iPod adapter when they become available.
My service advisor called me later to let me know they had two in stock - both sold - but that one person didn't want hers any longer and they could install it while it's in the shop. I confirmed that it's for the 05 A6 with MMI, and apparently it is.
I don't have the part number nor do I know how it works other than that it connects in the glove box.
I'm waiting for him to call me back and tell me that they made a mistake, but thought I'd pass along the potential good news.
Will post again once I get my car back (if they ever figure out what's wrong with it...).

Carlsen Audi in Palo Alto, CA will have it "in about a month"
Just got off the phone with Carlsen Audi in Palo Alto. The parts guy there said there will be an iPod adapter coming out soon, but it's not available yet. He guessed they'd have it in about a month, and the price would be about $150. He also said he'd gotten four calls already. Guess I'm not the only one champing at the bit.
I'm really curious to find out exactly how this thing works and how good the integration is. Can I pick tracks on the MMI?
Does anyone know anyone at Dension? Their web page for the iceLink Fibre still claims it will be ready in Q2 2005. Oh well.

IceLink Fibre

Re: Carlsen Audi in Palo Alto, CA will have it "in about a month"
I'm really hoping that the ipod screen will be replicated on the MMI screen, with the mmi wheel similar in function to the ipod click wheel. Anything else wouldn't have been worth the wait. Clicking forward or back through 1,000s of songs on my ipod with no title info on my screen just sounds silly.
