Default TPMS not learning sensor locations

I replaced all 4 tire sensors and still get the low TP light.

The Audi dealer said the system would not learn the sensor locations. They now feel the antenna or the module needs to be replaced.

Has anyone had this situation, can someone tell me where I can but an antenna or TPMS module or have an idea how I can get my dang low TP light off...

Thanks

Did you select install new tires through the MMI screen?

To solve this problem, you need to get more detail of testing data. I would find some shop and technician who has a good knowledge of the system and how to test them. Your car TPMS is either Beru or Siemens system. It has a module, four antennas and one sensor in each wheel. A good tech will test and get a full report of the system. He should be able to tell you fault code(s), signal strength, battery life, pressure reading, etc of each sensor and more and pinpoint problem area. Remember: diagnose this will take time and money. Guessing is normally free.

The US A6 has one antenna.

Yes , a good tech will be able to pinpoint the problem area. I guess my dealer didn't have any good techs, that’s why they charged me almost $1500 to locate my problem(or so they say).

Try to remove/disconnect all aftermarket electronics in the car while the system is initializing (after you select change wheels in MMI). This includes radar detector, cell phone, ipod, basically anything that didn't come with the car. Oh and your aftermarket amplifier if you have one. The reason, or at least what I was told by the dealer, is that the system if very sensitive to interference since it only uses one roof mounted antenna. Probably bull****, but it's worth a try. If not, REMOVE all aftermarket items BEFORE you bring it to the dealer.

After installing the sensors, how far did they test drive the vehicle, sometimes these system need to be driven upwards of 20 minutes to reset the light. Drive the vehicle 20 minutes, and select wheel change/initialize wheels in MMI.

These system are pretty good at telling you what wrong when it comes to faults. Antenna faults, or sensor no communication faults.

I drive it about 20 mins. to work everyday and the low tire light comes on as soon as I pull into work or home. I reset it and it goes off again.

I was told to try to pull the spre out of the trunk and reset it. I'm doing that now, I'll let yiu know if that works.

The audi shop does not have a scaner for the sensors, they only have a code reader.

So the light has not come on after I took out the spare tire. I guess the module was picking up the spare; I guess I will have to replace that sensor as well.

This car has been driving me nuts; I thought it would be fun to own an Audi but its really not. I have been going round and round with the dealer to get my TPMS light off with no luck.

The other day I was on State college area criagslist. I looked under services, under automotive was a kid in college who works on Audi's. I contacted him and he came over with his VAG equipment this past Sunday. He was able to find 5 codes, all BS codes. In addition he determined that my car was set on Europe mode for some things and the dealer did not put the months of life for the new sensors, they read 0 life. He set that to 99 and reset the other codes and even turned off my seatbelt chime.

He fixed everything, after the dealer could not.

His ad is thill there is any of you live in the Cenral PA area.
