Ugh.... wife washed advanced key...AGAIN!!
Wifey went for a run, got back, washed running clothes and the key again. She did the same thingabout 4 months ago. $300 later I got it replaced. Anybody know of anyone who fixes these things or is it a diy repair. I'm going to take it apart tomorrow and see, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Bob

You can typically save the wet electronics by removing the battery and drying out the circuit board. Since you can expose the circuit board of a smart key by removing the cover, dry it out as much as you can with a soft rag and use a hair dryer in low heat to remove all moisture. Let it sit for awhile and replace the battery. It should work. I have washed my own set of keys and this method worked for me.
For other electonic items that you can't remove the cover (i.e. cell phone), people have had limited success using a bag of rice. Rice will absorb the moisture. Hence you will see salt shakers in Hawaii with rice in them. The rice prevents the salt from sticking together because of ambient humidity.
Good luck.

As mentioned above rice should help, I was able to get a ipod ouch to work after 4-5 days in the rice, key is to make sure the container you have the rice in is sealed like a closed lid tupperware ziploc works also etc.
