update: Took it to another electrician today, he diagnosed individual parts, and while the MMI unit in the glovebox does not appear to be dead on the VCDS scan, it is in fact dead when he attempts to diagnose it, am now looking for a replacement

Regrettably, I am not what you might call an Audi aficionado but based on your comment as well as the OP, you must have a 2009 C6 whereas the OP has a 2009 C6.5.
