Warning Triangle

Warning Triangle
Contacted my dealer about the lack of triangle on my 05 A6. They are looking into it, and have been doing so for several days. Does anyone here know if its just a part to buy, or does it require a bracket of some sort to mount in the trunk lid?

Re: Warning Triangle
In many European countries it is mandatory to carry safety triangles in your car. I suspect Audi provides one in those countries.
I carry a box of three triangles in each of my cars ever since the son of a co-worker was killed while changing a tire at the side of a road.
Using three triangles enables you to place them so that they gradually steer cars away from the disabled cars and they are easier to set up than flares. Even if you have triangles it may be worthwhile to ruin the tire and wheel and drive till you get to a safe location. Your life is worth more than the $700 to $800 for a new tire and wheel.

I asked the same thing . . . dealer told me . . .
the hazard triangle is no longer offered as standard equipment for the A6 sold in the U.S., only the A8 gets the triangle as standard equipment.

Re: Warning Triangle
If your trunk lid has a couple of holes on the inside then you should be able to get one fitted. It's just a plastic bracket that clips into the holes to hold the triangle in place. The bracket on mine was broken when I picked the car up and the triangle was on the trunk floor. Dealer guy just swapped the whole thing out with the triangle from the showroom car.

You're right, in Portugal the triangle is mandatory and supplied with all new cars...
... recently it became also mandatory to use a flourescent vest everytime you have to get out of the car in case of accident, or if the car broke.
It is a lot safer, if you wear that kind of vest and use the triangle, the chances of being hit by a car are much smaller, especially at night.
